Sunday Guided Tours

In order to make our regular daytime guided tours accessible to the general public we are running guided tours on the first Sunday of selected months. Groups are also welcome to make bookings.

A daytime visit to the Perth Observatory provides insights into the science of astronomy and the working of an operational observatory.

Dates

2008: June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7

TIME: 2pm

Activities may include:

• a view of our historical astronomical artefacts in our museum,
• a sundial demonstration,
• a demonstration of the scale of the Solar System on our Solar System walk,
• a view and demonstration of the operation of our old and new research telescopes,
• a safe view of the Sun with our dedicated solar telescope, and
• a general or specific astronomy computer presentation.

Disabled Access

Perth Observatory can cater for visitors with a wide range of ability. Most of the site is accessible for people in wheelchairs except for some of the older telescope buildings.

PLEASE TELL THE STAFF ABOUT YOUR PARTICULAR NEEDS AT THE TIME OF BOOKING SO THAT THE APPROPRIATE FACILITIES CAN BE MADE READY FOR YOUR VISIT.

Regulations

In order that we can appropriately roster staff and adequately accommodate all our visitors we have developed the following regulations.

• Bookings are essential.
• Please state your special needs (disabled participants, or discussion of a special astronomy topic etc) at the time of booking.
• By booking a visit to Perth Observatory you accept all the rules and conditions relating to its visitors services, health ands safety regulations, etc.
• All visitors are to report to the reception staff on arrival at the Observatory.
• All adults in the party are to actively supervise the children in their group, and are legally responsible for any children in their party.
