Specialised Astronomy Information

Not only does Perth Observatory provide a significant amount of general educational astronomy information, it also provides some very specialised astronomy information. This includes:

• Sunrise and set times,
• Time and locations of solar eclipses,
• Moonrise and set,
• Moon phases, and
• Sun position angles etc.

NOTE: Perth Observatory not only can, but regularly does, provide this information to parties from interstate and overseas.

This information is crucial to various activities and is therefore important to many groups in the community, notably the:

• Legal profession,
• Police,
• Insurance companies,
• Business, and
• Government departments.

In fact, it is a requirement of WA State law (Evidence Act 1908) that sunrise and set times be provided by the Perth Observatory.

This information can be presented in Statuary Declaration format, or may involve attendance at court.

Perth Observatory also produces an annual Almanac that provides a wide range of astronomical information directly relevant to Western Australia in order to assist an audience ranging from interested members of the public (and casual star viewer) to professional astronomers.
