State Government of Western Australia

Finally, we thank the taxpayers of Western Australia for over 100 years of support.

Part of Perth Observatory's Mission involves the engagement of various groups within the community in order to promote, and facilitate participation in, astronomy. This activity is particularly important in an environment of diminishing resources.

Volunteers

Perth Observatory's main community involvement partner is the Perth Observatory Volunteer Group. This is an incorporated independent body that assists Perth Observatory with its Mission. Individuals are most welcome to apply to become a member of this group. More details concerning concerning this group and its achievements can be accessed here.

Disabled Access

Perth Observatory is committed to provide appropriate services for all in the community. To that end, the Observatory has made provision for the disabled to access its facilities. This access is integrated with that for the general public as far as is possible given the limited resources and age of the Observatory buildings. For this effort, the Observatory won the 2004 'Progress towards Accessible Communities by a small State Government Agency' award. Detailed information about these facilities is provided on the disabled access page.

Sponsorships, Donations and partnerships

Over the years the Observatory, and in turn, the community, has been the beneficiary of many donations and partnerships.

Our current partners are listed on the left.

Modern technological developments and unceasing astronomical discoveries present opportunities that are hard to realize with government funding alone. Perth Observatory has the astronomy skills, experience and vision, but needs your assistance.

Should you wish to support the Observatory by way of a donation, bequest or sponsorship go to our sponsorship page. Alternatively, you are most welcome to contact the Government Astronomer (Director, Dr James Biggs) by telephone, mail or . We can acknowledge your much appreciated contribution in many creative ways.

Corporate Citizenship

Perth Observatory also makes an effort to be a "good corporate citizen". To this end we can provide goods and services to a worthy cause without charge.

Unfortunately, our current low operating budget has meant that we have had to drastically curtail this activity.
