The data recorded on this web page are generated at Perth Observatory by a commercially available weather station-infra-red cloud detector unit and an older basic weather station. Both units are mounted on the roof of the Observatory's main administration building. The graphical data is updated about every 30 minutes.

This page automatically refreshes every 10 minutes. Use the Reload or Refresh facility on your browser to retrieve the latest data.

Integrated Cloud Detector-Weather Data

The graphs are all somewhat self-explanatory.

The first graph indicates the amount of cloud, or if its raining,
the second graph plots outside temperature and due point,
the third graph indicates dew point,
the fourth graph shows the wind speed (km/h), and
the last graph indicates the amount of daylight. Please note that this data is uncalibrated and is only used for illustrative purposes.

ALL times are local time (usually Western Australian Standard Time = UTC (Co-ordinated Universal Time) + 8 hours, UTC is the modern equivalent of Greenwich Mean Time). The times may be corrected for daylight saving if the controlling computer's operating system is capable of it.

Numerical astronomy weather forecast for Perth Observatory. This site appears to provide a reasonable guide to weather conditions relevant to astronomy. However, the parameters are possibly in error by about 30% because the model has to apply for locations all over the world. Forecasts for other sites can be calculated via this site's homepage.
